Tim Johnson is the president and founder of Tim Johnson Landscaping (TJL), a premier full-service landscape management company based in Statesville, North Carolina. His journey in the green industry began in 1999 at age twelve when his father taught him a lesson in responsibility: if he wanted a car at sixteen, he'd have to earn it himself. That push sent Tim out mowing lawns in the neighborhood, planting the seeds for what would become a lifelong career built on grit, integrity, and relationships.

Tim pursued his degree in Environmental Horticulture and a certificate in Entrepreneurship from North Carolina A&T State University—where he also played baseball as a Division I pitcher. In 2009, after his baseball career, Tim and his father officially incorporated TJL and committed to the business full-time. What began as a father-son venture operating from their family home with one part-time employee has grown into one of North Carolina's most respected landscape firms. Today, TJL employs nearly 100 professionals across a 17-acre headquarters in Statesville and a branch office in Charlotte, providing comprehensive landscape solutions throughout the greater Charlotte region. The company has been voted "Best Landscaping Company" in the Statesville Record & Landmark Reader's Choice Awards five years running.

Tim is a past president of the North Carolina Nursery & Landscape Association (NCNLA) and currently serves on its Legislative Committee. His leadership philosophy centers on creating careers, not just jobs, and building a culture where team members are empowered to grow both personally and professionally. He measures success not only by the landscapes his company creates but by the opportunities and relationships built along the way.
