Derek Taussig is a husband, father, combat veteran, ultra-runner, and founder of Taussig Landscape, a full-service landscape and garden center company employing over 50 team members in Kansas.

An entrepreneur from a young age, Derek started his first lawn business in high school before serving from 2003–2011 as an Army combat medic, completing multiple tours in the Middle East. In 2011, he rebuilt his company from his driveway while attending Kansas State University, growing it into a diversified, people-first organization built on accountability, respect, and excellence.

Derek has completed 16 ultramarathons, including two 100-mile races, using endurance sport as a framework for resilience, leadership, and personal transformation. He credits ultra-running with helping him overcome the rigors of war and addiction while building a life centered on faith, family, and purpose.

He is most proud of being married to his wife, Shantel, and being a girl dad to three daughters. Derek’s mission is to live an exceptional life—and bring others with him.
